Trendy shoes 2016: the platforms
For the coming season, the fall-winter 2015-2016 shoes are borrowing rather, like the spring-summer and autumn-winter fashion trends, the codes of the 60s-70s and the 90s. We find waders, moccasins , platform shoes and others. For lovers of classics, oxfords and derbies, initially reserved for men’s cloakroom, reinvent themselves and invite themselves to the women’s wardrobe. We can also see a big return of the platforms: very trendy and very comfortable. In terms of materials, leather, suede and velvet are the most popular materials for the upcoming season.
2016 shoe trends: even higher waders
This winter, waders and mid-calf boots are at the top of the list. Combined with a vintage dress or a cropped trouser, these shoes are very elegant. Heel pumps are a real classic, but for this season, it’s the platforms and the big heels that are invading the hearts of fashionistas. The return of the waders is final. Velvet, leather or vinyl, she is sexy and less wise than last year.
Bronx Bronze Oxford Shoes
The “Richelieu” shoes and the “derbies” shoes, borrowed from the men’s cloakroom, are still trendy. Do you know their story? The derby shoes come from across the Channel, while the Oxfords evoke a shoe created for the court of Versailles. At first glance, the two types of footwear are similar, but a significant difference makes the difference: their lacing. The oxford shoes have a closed lacing and the laces are directly on the upper part that covers the shoe (the footprint). This part goes from the instep to the tip. The lacing of the derbies and the quarters are sewn on the slap (the front of the shoe). The oxfords also have a floral tip, while the derbies have a stretch. The perforations on the oxford shoes make them easily recognizable. If you want to invest to the sure values, bet for the great classics: the boots Chelsea, the Richelieu, the moccasins …
Clarks pea loafers
The first models of platform shoes appear to the 17th century as the Chopines. They played the role of social benchmark: the higher the platforms, the higher the social level. They also had a practical side: the height prevented the bottom of the dresses from getting dirty. These in the 30s they make their comeback signed by Roger Vivier and Salvatore Ferragamo. They will definitely be on the fashion show in the years 1971. The great Yves Saint Laurent integrated them into one of his collections, inspired by the fashion of the 1940s. The 1970s – a remarkable period for the shoe to platform. They are really starting to be popularized by star Elthon John and ABBA and worn by disco fans. In the 1990s, they came back in strength, but this time in the form of huge platform sneakers. Vivienne Westwood integrates platform shoes into her “Mini-Crini” collection . Do you remember Spice Girls? Ten years later in 2010, the high heel is no longer so trendy and the pumps adopt the platforms: stability, comfort, height and style! Often, they are also related to Gothic fashion .
